Dave Grippo Joins Goose In Vermont

Goose headed up to Vermont on Friday for the Higher Ground Drive-In Experience in Essex Junction near Burlington. The Connecticut-based band welcomed saxophonist Dave Grippo for most of the show.

Goose kicked off the concert with a tight “Time To Flee” which saw Peter Anspach switching effortlessly between guitar and piano and taking the song for a ride before the band settled into a funky jam with Giant Country Horns saxophonist Dave Grippo joining the quintet toward the end. Grippo would stay on for the Bob Marley nod “Caution” followed by “Butter Rum” along with “Jive II” and “Drive” to close out the five-song first set.

Goose got the second sent underway with a Billy Joel cover in “Movin’ Out,” and once again welcomed Grippo for the iconic sax line. The band continued the funk with “A Fifth Of Beethoven” followed by “Creatures” and “Doobie Song.” Goose would go it alone for the set closer, “Hot Tea.” The band would come back out for an encore of “Turned Clouds” with a “Saints Go Marching In” tease to cap off the evening.
