Foundation Of Funk :: 2.9.17 :: Boulder Theater :: Boulder
Foundation Of Funk rolled through Boulder last night and thrilled the crowd at the Boulder Theater with a solid two-hour set of The Meters’ fusion of rock, funk and R & B music. Bassist George Porter, Jr. and drummer Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters are in the middle of a Colorado Foundation Of Funk run augmented by John Medeski on keys and Eddie Roberts on guitar.
The interplay of these four musicians is truly something special and should not be missed. John Medeski and Eddie Roberts fill the roles of ‘sidemen’ in this band like they’ve been playing this Thursday night gig in a lounge for the past 20 years. Confident and casual, yet able to step forward and tear into a lead when directed by George, to see this grouping of musicians perform together is a unique opportunity to watch multiple generations of world class musicians.
Tonight Foundation Of Funk play a sold out show at intimate Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox in Denver and on Saturday night they play at Cervante’s Masterpiece Ballroom in Denver.
