Full Shows Audio: Ween Headlines Chicago For The First Time Since 2010

Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman and Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo led Ween this past Thursday and Friday nights at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, which marked the band’s first headlining appearances in The Windy City since 2010. Crispy audience recordings of both concerts recently surfaced and can be streamed below.

Ween’s 26-song Thursday night performance was heavy on material from 1994’s Chocolate & Cheese LP as they played seven of the LP’s 16 tracks. Gener, Deaner, bassist Dave Dreiwitz, drummer Claude Coleman and keyboardist Glenn McClelland also fit in the band’s first ever live take on “King Billy.” On Friday, the five-piece honored the occasion of St. Patrick’s Day with a “Blarney Stone” opener. The 27-song performance also included a brief acoustic interlude as Gene and Dean went acoustic for “Chocolate Town,” “Tried & True” and “Kim Smoltz.” Next up for Ween is a 4/20 show in Charlottesville, Virginia.
