Southern jam act Perpetual Groove brought their fall tour to a close on Friday and Saturday nights at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. All that remains in 2017 for PGroove is a four-night New Year’s Run. Audio and video from this past weekend has surfaced and can be enjoyed below.
Guitarist Brock Butler, bassist Adam Perry, drummer Albert Suttle and keyboardist Matt McDonald opened the run with a cover of Pearl Jam’s “Release.” The quartet then focused on originals including “Two Shores,” “Space Paranoids” and “Teakwood Betz” to end the frame. From there, PGroove fit covers of Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer” and “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)” into a second set that featured such beloved classics as “Mr. Transistor” and “It Starts Where It Ends.” Butler & Co. said farewell with an encore of Lionel Richie’s “All Night Long.”
On Saturday, the group focused the first set on more recent tuneage such as “Black String” and “Paper Dolls,” with fan favorite “Three Weeks” thrown in for good measure. PGroove kicked off the final set of the weekend with a run of “Gorilla Monsoon,” “Cairo” and “Robot Waltz.” The originals kept coming with “Out Here,” “Playground” and “TTFPJ” ahead of a “Sweet Oblivious Antidote” encore.
