Full Show Video | Nels Cline Guests With Tweedy At BAM

Last night Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy celebrated the release of Sukierae with a Tweedy performance at BAM in New York City. The Tweedy band kicked off the show with 13 songs off the album before Jeff finished off the main set with solo acoustic performances of tunes from his back catalog. For the encore, the Tweedy band played a trifecta of covers and then welcomed Wilco guitarist Nels Cline to guest on the show-closing “California Stars.”

The BAM audience was attentive throughout the Tweedy band portion of the show, but things became a bit rowdy for the solo acoustic segment. Jeff is a master of in-show banter and engaged the crowd throughout the solo section, even performing the Golden Smog deep cut “Radio King” by request after at first poo-pooing the choice. Mr. Tweedy was in fine form throughout and sported huge smiles as he’d look back at his 18-year-old son, Spencer, on drums. Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius sang on many of the songs from Sukierae on which they appear. Holly and Jess came back out during Tweedy’s solo segment to sing backup on “Jesus, Etc.” and also helped out on the encore.

If you missed the free webcast of last night’s show, you’re in luck. Video of the entire performance is still available to be viewed:
