This past Tuesday Frank Zappa tribute act The Z3 kicked off a weekly October residency at Pacific Standard Tavern in New Haven, Connecticut. The group was joined by Natalie Cressman of the Trey Anastasio Band for a set of Zappa classics and rarities on both trombone and vocals.

Cressman’s time on stage included renditions of “Zomby Woof,” Zappa’s arrangement of “I Am The Walrus” and “Cletus Awreetus-Awritus.” Multi-cam video of the entire performance can be viewed below thanks to Raymond Morelli:

The Z3 features Tim Palmieri (Kung Fu, The Breakfast), Beau Sasser (Kung Fu, Ryan Montbleau) and Bill Carbone (Max Creek, Zach Deputy). The Tuesday Night Frankover series continues throughout October with a different female musician guesting each Tuesday. This Tuesday The Z3 is joined by electric violinist Katie Jacoby, famed for her sit ins with thrashers like Exodus as well as her work with the Ed Palermo Big Band in NYC. On October 20 they’re joined by vocalist Jen Durkin and the October 27th finale features electric cellist and vocalist Mel Hsu.
