Full Show Video: moe. Busts Out ‘In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed’ In Athens
By Scott Bernstein Jan 29, 2017 • 7:37 am PST
moe. Winter Tour rolled on Saturday night with a visit to the legendary Georgia Theatre in Athens, Georgia. After five shows without a repeat, the band continued to show off their massive repertoire as they played just one song they had performed earlier in the run. moe. also honored Butch Trucks with the return of a The Allman Brothers Band classic to the fold after nearly seven years.
The five-piece pulled from nearly every era of the career during the first set. Oldie “Sensory Deprivation Bank” was followed by “All Roads Lead To Home” and “Queen Of Everything” before percussionist Jim Loughlin led moe. on one of their newest originals – “Don’t Wanna Be.” Up next was “Opium,” the first song moe. has repeated on Winter Tour 2017 and the only repeat played throughout the evening. “Opium” led into “New York City” before an adventurous “McBain” brought the first set to a close.
“Blue Jeans Pizza” served as the second set opener and then moe. treated fans to a double dose of Pink Floyd in “The Happiest Days Of Our Lives” > “Another Brick In The Wall.” The group dusted off “Hi & Lo” next ahead of one of their oldest songs, “Don’t Fuck With Flo” and a memorable “Ricky Marten” > “Meat” closing sequence. When moe. returned for the encore they dusted off “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed” for the first time since February 25, 2010 to pay tribute to Butch Trucks. moe.’s “Liz Reed” spanned nearly 20 minutes and can be heard and viewed below.
