On May 1 acclaimed drummer Johnny Vidacovich, Dead & Company bassist Oteil Burbridge and Medeski, Martin & Wood keyboardist John Medeski paired up for a late night show at d.b.a. in New Orleans. Incredible footage of the two-set performance has surfaced and can be viewed below.

John, Oteil and Johnny mostly improvised over the course of a 70-minute first set and 40-minute second set. Oteil’s brother Kofi Burbridge of the Tedeschi Trucks Band emerged towards the beginning of the second set to add flute to the performance. Kofi’s time on stage included a cover of Pee Wee Ellis’s “The Chicken.” The concert took place on the same night as the Hampton 70 show in Atlanta honoring Oteil’s mentor Col. Bruce Hampton who collapsed on stage and passed away a short time later.
