The Charm City Bluegrass Festival took place last weekend in Baltimore, Maryland. Jeff Austin Band played an official after party on the evening of April 28, and were joined by guitarists Larry Keel and Billy Strings.
The performance at The 8×10 also featured an opening set by Man About A Horse. Jeff Austin Band opened their performance with a lengthy rendition of “Ten.” Keel emerged a few songs later, accompanying the band on “Dawn’s Early Light,” “King Eb” and “Boatman,” each of which is from Austin’s time with Yonder Mountain String Band.
Frontman Jeff Austin then led a performance of “Half Moon Rising” also from his days with YMSB. After a cover of Danny Barnes’ “Pretty Daughter,” Strings came onstage to augment Ralph Stanley’s “Clinch Mountain Backstep” and a 20-minute take on Barnes’ “Rag Doll.” JAB closed their set with “Sideshow Blues” and encored with the Grateful Dead’s “Althea.”
