Full Show Friday | Phish In Chicago On This Date In History

Sixteen years ago tonight, Phish began a tremendous three-night stand at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. The Vermonters’ opening show for the 1998 Chicago run featured a ridiculous, four-song second set that included an “AC/DC Bag” for the ages.

The first set is no slouch either with well above-average renditions of “Mike’s Song” and “Weekapaug Groove,” a double dose of Trey on acoustic for the new-at-the-time “Driver” and “Brian & Robert” as well as the gorgeous “Billy Breathes.” But for our money, the “AC/DC Bag” is where it’s at. There’s plenty of exploration within the multi-dimensional 20+ version and plenty of cow-funk in the “Ghost” that follows. The late second-set “Reba” doesn’t hurt this show’s place in Phish history either.

In keeping with the full show theme of Full Show Friday head to Phish Tracks to stream an audience recording of the performance. We can also re-live the majestic show thanks to fan-shot footage that has long circulated among fans. Unfortunately, the first half of “AC/DC Bag” is missing. Take a look… (via The Phish Jams)
