For this installment of Full Show Friday let’s take the JamBase Time Machine back to the Summer of 2012 for a very special performance from God Street Wine. On August 9, 2012 GSW performed at the intimate environs of TRI Studios in San Rafael, California for a set that was broadcast worldwide via a free webcast and included guest spots from Bob Weir and Shana Morrison.

When the band took the stage with “Princess Henrietta” followed by “Mile By Mile” and “Nightingale,” a pattern started to emerge. As “Thirsty” came next it was clear God Street Wine was replicating the track list of their major label debut – $1.99 Romances. GSW tackled their most well-known album song-by-song until they had played the entire 14-track LP. While most tunes were performed in a similar fashion to the album, guitarist Lo Faber strapped on an acoustic for a slow-tempo take on “Molly.” Also, one-time GSW member Jason Crosby, who joined his old mates for the whole show, played fiddle and dueled with Faber during “Wendy.”

Faber strode to the mic after the complete performance of $1.99 Romances and welcomed TRI proprietor Bob Weir. Weir, who had jammed with God Street Wine on Jam Cruise in 2011, led the group through Grateful Dead classics “Candyman,” “Feel Like A Stranger” and “Cassidy.” For a finale, Weir stuck around while vocalist Shanna Morrison came out for a cover of her father’s (Van Morrison) “And It Stoned Me.” When urged by their host for just one more, God Street Wine complied with their own “Epilog.” TRI shared video of the entire webcast shortly after it ended.
