Full Show Audio & Video: Bob Weir & Friends At Christmas Jam 2016

On Saturday night, Warren Haynes hosted the 28th all-star Christmas Jam at U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina. The Asheville Area Habitat For Humanity benefit concert featured a number of memorable performances, including Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir leading a talented ensemble.

Weir fronted a band made up of his longtime collaborator, guitarist Steve Kimock, as well as Widespread Panic drummer Duane Trucks, bassist Don Was, pianist Holly Bowling and saxophonist Branford Marsalis. Bobby began his set alone on acoustic guitar and performed a cover of Little Feat’s “Easy To Slip.” He then welcomed “distinguished” guest Alison Krauss to lend fiddle and vocals to a moving rendition of the traditional “Peggy-O.”

Kimock, Trucks and Was then emerged for takes on “Ghost Towns” and “Only A River” off Weir’s recently issued solo album of cowboy songs, Blue Mountain. That quartet started up the Dead’s “He’s Gone” as Marsalis, Bowling and Haynes filled out the stage to help finish out the tune. A nicely jammed “Eyes Of The World” that saw Marsalis and Bowling trading runs, the Dead classic “Truckin’” and a heartfelt “Ripple” closed out the latter half of Weir’s set.

Below watch full show video of Bobby’s set from Saturday captured by Josh Daniel:
