Full Show Audio: Umphrey’s McGee Welcomes Jeff Grady In Idaho

Umphrey’s McGee held the second of two shows at The Hive in Sandpoint, Idaho Thursday night. UM utilized a songlist rather than a fully written pre-show setlist for the improv-heavy performance that featured special guest Jeff Grady sitting-in on a The Clash cover.
The impromptu nature of the songlist approach resulted in just a five song first set Thursday night. “Conduit” segued into “Loose Ends” to begin the first half followed by a lengthy “Hurt Bird Bath.” Takes on “Wife Soup” and “Dump City” filled out the rest of set one.
Instrumental dance-rocker “The Triple Wide” got the seven-song second set going. Subsequent transitions into “Cut Off” and “Higgins” took up more than 30 minutes loaded with more jamming. UM then opened up “In The Kitchen” before a move into “No Comment” as the second set progressed. Nearly one year to the day later, The Hive owner Jeff Grady once again joined UM on stage, this time adding percussion to a cover of The Clash’s “Rock The Casbah.” The encore started with “Plunger” ahead of the conclusion of “In The Kitchen” and a return to close out “Plunger” and the show.
Tonight, Umphrey’s McGee heads to The Wilma in Missoula, Montana for the first of two shows which are available to webcast via TourGigs. Watch video of “Conduit” from last night’s webcast followed by an audience recording of the show by taper Mark Smith:
