Full Show Audio: Pink Talking Fish Teams With Start Making Sense In Syracuse, Jim Thorpe & NYC

Tribute acts Pink Talking Fish and Start Making Sense recently completed a three show run featuring intertwining sets from both bands. For those unfamiliar, PTF mixes the music of Talking Heads, Phish and Pink Floyd, while Start Making Sense is one of the nation’s premier Talking Heads tribute acts. The bands provided hours of non-stop music for fans between Thursday and Saturday.

PTF’s run with SMS began at The Westcott Theater in Syracuse on Thursday, October 19. The format of each concert was a set from Start Making Sense featuring a full band transition into Pink Talking Fish and then a repeat of the same for a total of four sets followed by a collaborative encore. In Syracuse, members of both act sat-in with each other at various points, “The Great Curve,” “Tube” and “Life During Wartime” were used for the full band transitions and the encore was a collaborative “Crosseyed & Painless.”

More of the same followed at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania on Friday night. “Cities,” “Nothing But Flowers” and “Young Lust” were used for the full band transitions and the encore saw the unveiling of a mashup featuring portions of “Burning Down The House” and “Tweezer Reprise.” The finale took place on Saturday night at Irving Plaza in New York City. “Moon Rocks,” “You Enjoy Myself” and “Nothing But Flowers” were used for full band transitions before the show and run came to a close with another “Burning Down Tweezer Reprise” mashup.
