Mihali hosted a “Mihali & Frends” concert at The Rusty Nail in Stowe, Vermont Saturday night. The performance featured the Twiddle guitarist joined by a number of musicians, including members of the Trey Anastasio Band, Kung Fu and Cabinet.
Mihali enlisted his Twiddle band mate Zdenek Gubb to play bass alongside Trey Anastasio Band drummer Russ Lawton and keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, Kung Fu percussionist Adrian Tramontano and Cabinet’s Pappy Biondo on manjitar. The ensemble began with over 25 minutes of wide-ranging improvisation followed by a 22+ minute rendition of Twiddle’s “Subconscious Prelude.” The first set was capped with the reggae anthem “Roar Like A Lion.”
“Rivers Drift” opened the second set and was trailed by a jammed out performance of “Syrup and Spaghetti.” A cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” came ahead of another lengthy segment of improvisation and a set closing cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Call Me The Breeze.” The encore saw the collective covering Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” to close out the show in Stowe.
