Full Show Audio: Midnight North & Special Guests Honor The Music Of The Band

On February 10, Bay Area favorites Midnight North played the historic Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The band was joined by a bevy of guests for both a standard first set and a second set filled with classics from The Band and Levon Helm’s live repertoires. A soundboard matrix recording of the show recently surfaced on the Live Music Archive.

A horn section aided Midnight North at various parts of each set including on “One Night Stand,” “Greene County” and more in the first set as well as nearly all of The Band tribute performance. Midnight North was also joined by Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz on lap steel and Jason Crosby on keys for the bulk of the opening stanza and portions of the second.

Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh turned up for “Wind & Roses” and “The Wheel” in the first set as well as “Tennessee Jed,” “The Shape I’m In,” “Long Black Veil,” Evangeline,” “Atlantic City” and “Up On Cripple Creek” in the second set. Additional guests included guitarist/vocalists Fred Torphy, Ross James and Greg Loiacono. The evening came to a conclusion with all of the guests coming out for a “The Weight” finale.
