Full Show Audio | Kung Fu & Guests Steely Dan Tribute
By Scott Bernstein Dec 20, 2014 • 10:15 am PST

Steely Dan guitarist and musical director Jon Herington, drummer and one-time Steely Dan collaborator Bernard Purdie, keyboardist Jesse Gibbon, trombonist Rob Volo, trumpeter Mark Coronado and backing vocalists Christine Tambakis and Nicole Zuraitis all assisted Kung Fu in their performance of the Dan’s 1976 album. Kung Fu stuck to The Royal Scam’s original sequencing in opening with “Kid Charlemagne” and working through such songs as “Green Earrings,” “The Fez” and “Haitian Divorce” before closing the set with the album’s title track. Purdie and the vocalists came back out to guest with Kung Fu on “Got To Get Your Own.”
A crispy soundboard matrix recording of last night’s Kung Fu show is already available for streaming and downloading via Live Music Archive thanks to the efforts of MKDevo and Matt Vallo. Take a listen:
