One of the sets we most had our eyes on at last weekend’s Bear Creek Music & Art Festival was the Saturday night performance from Chris Robinson’s Soulive Revue. Robinson, Soulive and many guests including George Porter Jr., Ivan Neville, Bernard Purdie, Oteil Burbridge, Roosevelt Collier, Alecia Chakour, Pee Wee Ellis and the Lettuce horns delivered an incredibly soulful set at Buffalo’s Amphitheatre that featured an impressive selection of tunes.

The ensemble kicked off the show with a rendition of “West L.A. Fadeaway” by the Grateful Dead and continued the set with a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Hot Stuff.” Robinson then led the band through “Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song)” by Otis Redding, “Quitters Never Win,” Traffic’s “Who Knows What Tomorrow May Bring” and another Dead cover in “Sugaree.” The power-packed sequence of “Space Captain” (Joe Cocker), “Hard To Handle” (Otis Redding), “Gimme Shelter” (Rolling Stones) and “Turn On Your Lovelight” (Bobby “Blue” Bland) brought the memorable performance to a close.

A crispy audience recording of the set by Scott T. has surfaced on Archive.org:
