Earlier this summer we reported on an upcoming episode of Fred Armisen and Bill Hader’s Documentary Now! television program will feature the pair of comedians parodying the classic Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense. On Late Night With Seth Meyers, the pair and their Test Pattern band parodied Talking Heads by performing the hilarious tune “Art + Student = Poor.”
Armisen filled the David Byrne role and wore a white suit straight out of Stop Making Sense as Hader played bass and the pair were joined by a drummer and keyboardist. Meyers intro’d Test Pattern as an “iconic art-rock band from Connecticut via the Lower East Side.” The song “Art + Student = Poor” sounds like a mix of “Psycho Killer” and “Warning Sign” from Talking Heads’ earliest days.
