Foundation Of Funk with Jimmy Herring & JoJo Hermann

One of the most highly anticipated shows of this year’s Jazz Fest season took place at Republic in New Orleans last night as members of The Meters paired up with members of Widespread Panic. Foundation Of Funk featuring original Meters members George Porter Jr. and Zigaboo Modeliste welcomed special guests JoJo Hermann and Jimmy Herring of Widespread Panic as part of Nolafunk’s 6th Annual Jazz Fest Series in New Orleans. The quartet focused on Meters classics including “Here Comes The Metermen,” “Ain’t No Use” and “Fire On The Bayou,” but also threw in a handful of choice covers such as Neil Young’s “Down By The River” and Allen Toussaint’s “Get Out Of My Life, Woman.” Photographer Adam McCullough documented the evening:
