Forecastle organizers have also announced they will give a nod to Louisville native Hunter S. Thompson at this year’s event with a new, Gonzo-inspired bourbon bar. This year’s festival will also see the debut of the Bourbon Cares program, presented by Liquor Barn, a unique partnership between several bourbon brands and Forecastle bands, featuring special single-barrel selections, available only in the Forecastle Bourbon Lodge. For this inventive program, members of Spoon will hand-select a barrel from Four Roses Bourbon, JJ Grey & Mofro from Heaven Hill and Spanish Gold from Woodford Reserve. My Morning Jacket drummer Patrick Hallahan, who also plays in Spanish Gold, and members of Spoon will participate in special celebrity mixology sessions where fans can have a drink crafted from the artist-select bourbons, prepared by members of the bands. Bourbon Cares proceeds will benefit The Forecastle Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, focused on environmental conservation.
Membership and pricing details for the Bourbon Lounge can be found on the Forecastle website.
