Foo Fighters Welcome Perry Farrell At Intimate Late-Night Show In Chicago

Last night the Foo Fighters were in Chicago to play a last-minute Lollapalooza after-party at the intimate Metro. The Los Angeles-band treated the sold out crowed at the 1,100-capacity Wrigelyville club to an epic three-and-a-half hour, 32-song career spanning set that included fan-favorites, classic rock covers, a handful of new tunes and a sit-in by Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell.

Dave Grohl & Co. kicked the night off “Aurora,” marking the first time the band had played the There Is Nothing Left To Lose track live since 2015. From there the Foos peppered their set with some of their most well-known material, which included “Run,” “Learn To Fly,” “The Pretender” and “Best Of You.” The band also used the opportunity to showcase a handful of tunes from their upcoming studio album, Concrete And Gold, which is set to be released on September 15 via Roswell Records/RCA Records.

About two-thirds of the way through last night’s show the Foo Fighter’s welcomed Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell to the stage. Farrell led the band through a version of “Mountain Song,” marking the third time he’s teamed up with the Foos on the Jane’s Addiction’s track from their 1988 release Nothing Shocking.

In addition to the Farrell sit-in the band also included a number of classic rock cover songs in the back end of their set offering up take on The Rolling Stones’ “Miss You,” Queen’s “Under Pressure,” the Faces “Stay With Me,” Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ “Breakdown” and AC/DC’s “Let There Be Rock.”
