The Flaming Lips with Colorado Symphony Orchestra :: 5.26.16 :: Red Rocks Amphitheatre :: Morrison, CO
One of the most anticipated concerts of Red Rocks’ 75th anniversary season took place on Thursday night when The Flaming Lips performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra at the iconic Morrison, Colorado venue. The Flaming Lips started the show by tackling each track from 1999’s The Soft Bulletin in sequence with the orchestra. While the Oklahoma rockers had performed their breakthrough LP live in the past, this was the first time with an orchestra and the band recorded the show for potential release. After running through The Soft Bulletin, The Flaming Lips and the CSO treated fans to a first encore of “Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, Pt. 1” and “Do You Realize” before Wayne Coyne & Co. ended the night by themselves for a second encore of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and their own “The W.A.N.D.” Photographer Jeremy Williams was at Red Rocks Thursday, view his gallery followed by audience-shot videos below:
