Exclusive Premiere | Dopapod – Present Ghosts
By Scott Bernstein Nov 7, 2014 • 10:50 am PST

“Present Ghosts,” which kicks off the album, features a number of twists and turns over the course of eight epic minutes. Dopapod embed elements of dance-rock, prog and good old fashioned, ass-kicking rock and roll within “Present Ghosts.” There’s so many powerful moments throughout the track, we suggest making sure any desks are well-secured before giving it a spin.
Take a listen to “Present Ghosts” off Dopapod’s Never Odd Or Even:
“The Never Odd Or Even sessions cultivated a serious growth in the band’s creativity,” guitarist Rob Compa explained. “Each person stepped up to the plate and put out great creativity and passionate playing, while inspiring everybody else involved in the project to do the same. We really feel that the material this time around represented a big leap forward, not just in the way we’ve been interacting as a band, but in the way our focus has become sharper in paying attention to things like melody, theme, lyrical imagery, and structure -all the elements that make a great song.”
Never Odd or Even was produced and engineered by the band’s friend, Jason “Jocko” Randall to both engineer and produce the record. “We lived at his studio for about a month for these sessions and it just clicked right away,” said keyboardist Eli Winderman. “With Jocko’s attitude and approach to the recording process, we were able to really dial in the sounds we wanted, get those perfect takes we were aiming for, and have a blast the whole way through.”
Tonight, Dopapod opens Umphrey’s McGee’s 1,999th show at The Orpheum in Madison. The band will celebrate the release of Never Odd Or Even with a pair of album release parties at The Gramercy Theatre in NYC on November 21 and at Philadelphia’s District N9ne on November 22.
