Midnight North’s Elliott Peck and Grahame Lesh hosted a show Saturday night at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California that featured a performance of Gillian Welch’s acclaimed album Revival. The pair of band mates were joined by a number of special guests during the evening’s concert in the Grate Room.
Peck and Lesh welcomed TXR regulars Scott Law on guitar and mandolin, Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz on dobro and pedal steel, drummer Sean Nelson and vocalist Victoria George for a first set complete performance of Revival. Welch issued her 10-track, T Bone Burnett-produced debut album in 1996.
The rest of the show saw further selections from the Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings catalog and beyond, as Peck, Lesh and George offered acapella versions of “Don’t Leave Nobody But The Baby” and “Down to River To Pray” from the O Brother Where Art Thou? soundtrack. The rest of the players then came back out for a second set featuring such Welch/Rawlings favorites as “Revelator,” “The Way It Goes,” “Hard Times,” “Miss Ohio” and others.
