Eddie Vedder Covers Tom Petty’s ‘Room At The Top’ For Vince Vaughn Series ‘Bad Monkey’

Eddie Vedder’s cover of “Room At The Top” is one of several covers of Tom Petty songs recorded for the soundtrack to the new television series Bad Monkey. The comedy starring actor Vince Vaughn premieres on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, August 14.

Along with Vedder, the Bad Monkey soundtrack features Tom Petty’s songs recorded by Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, The War On Drugs, Sharon Van Etten, Stephen Marley, Nathaniel Rateliff, Kurt Vile, Lissie, Larkin Poe, Weezer, Fitz and the Tantrums, Charlotte Lawrence and others.

Members of Vedder’s solo band The Earthlings contributed to his “Room At The Top” cover, which was recorded by bassist Chris Chaney, guitarists Josh Klinghoffer and Andrew Watt, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. Frequent Vedder collaborator Glen Hansard played acoustic guitar and added backing vocals. A masterful organ part was performed by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ keyboardist Benmont Tench.
