Pearl Jam completed a hometown two-night stand on Thursday at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena. Frontman Eddie Vedder began the encore with a solo acoustic performance of Nine Inch Nails’ haunting song “Hurt.”
Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter World Tour concert at Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday night was their first performance since 2013 at the renovated venue formerly known as the Key Arena. The setlist Thursday contained nine songs from the band’s new studio album released last month, Dark Matter. A pair of tour debuts made the setlist as well, “Pilate” off the 1998 album Yield and “Love Boat Captain” from 2002’s Riot Act.

Ahead of starting the encore, Vedder appeared on stage alone with his acoustic guitar and addressed the audience, stating:
“You can guess, there’s no other guestlist bigger than the one we have when we’re in Seattle. San Diego, Chicago, nope. Seattle. And to be honest, I wish it were longer. There are certain names I so deeply wish were on the guestlist tonight, but we lost them too early and in ways that we could never imagine. And damn it if I can’t stop thinking about them, but that’s a good thing too.”
Having covered it before at solo performances, “Hurt” was then played by Vedder, which PJ setlist database Live Footsteps identified as its first Pearl Jam setlist appearance.
