After Pearl Jam‘s music was featured in the first two seasons of Hulu/FX’s The Bear, frontman Eddie Vedder contributed a previously unreleased cover to the hit television show’s third season. Vedder’s take on the English Beat’s 1982 classic “Save It For Later” was used in the second episode of the just-released season.
The Bear tells the story of a family sandwich shop turned into fine dining establishment in Chicago. Season 3 premiered on Hulu today. Pearl Jam’s “Come Back” and “Animal” as well as Vedder’s “Throw Your Arms Around Me” collaboration with Neil Finn were among songs utilized in previous seasons of The Bear.

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament introduced his bandmates to The Bear. Eddie Vedder discussed the show along with his days working in a restaurant during a 2023 concert in Chicago. Vedder relayed that Ament said “Animal” appearing in The Bear was “one of the coolest uses of [Pearl Jam’s] music connected to a visual he’d ever seen.”
A portion of “Save It For Later” has been tagged onto over 200 Pearl Jam performances of “Better Man” dating back to 1996. Eddie Vedder provided a studio version of the cover to The Bear and released the song on all streaming services today. An image of the song on vinyl was shared on Eddie Vedder’s Instagram but there was no mention of a physical release in the post.
