Eddie Is Everywhere: Ohana Fest Returns For 2nd Year – Photos & Videos

Ohana Fest returned to the beautiful Doheny State Beach in Orange County, California last weekend. The 2017 installment was expanded to three days and Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder was once again one of the headliners. Vedder made his presence felt throughout the weekend by collaborating with a number of acts on the bill. Friday’s action leaned indie with sets from the Pixies, TV On The Radio, The Orwells, Simon Townshend, local heroes Social Distortion and more. Eddie sat-in with Townshend on “She Asked Me” and joined Social Distortion on “Ball & Chain.” Vedder headlined Saturday and his set included a new original, Pearl Jam classics such as “Porch” and “Just Breathe” and a bevy of covers. Simon added to “I’m The Answer,” while Liam Finn sang “Society” with Eddie and Glen Hansard helped out on “Falling Slowly.” A set-closing rendition of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” saw the Pearl Jam singer joined by Hansard, Finn, Townshend, Fiona Apple, David Garza and Jack Johnson.
Hansard and Finn both welcomed Vedder during their own sets for Pearl Jam gems as Eddie joined Liam for “Habit” and Glen for “Present Tense.” Apple’s first set of 2017 was career-spanning performance that included a debut, old favorite “Fast As You Can” and a handful of covers such as Frank Sinatra’s “I’ll Be Around” and more. Sunday featured sets from HAIM, Dr. Dog and others with Jack Johnson headlining. HAIM showed off their cover of Shania Twain’s “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” while Johnson’s set mixed new songs off his forthcoming album with oldies like “Flake” and “Better Together.” The festival came to a close with Jack leading Vedder, Hansard and other Ohana performers on a cover of Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released.” Jared Kelly was on hand to capture the action:
