This past Tuesday Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros released their third studio album and last night the troupe visited CBS’s The Late Show With David Letterman to perform a track off the self-titled LP.

The album is filled with joyful optimistic songs, so don’t be fooled by the title of the song they performed on their return to Letterman -“Life Is Hard.” Sharpe and his band are a throwback to the days when hopeful hippies roamed the earth. We were originally drawn in to the Zeros’ by the way front man Alex Ebert harmonizes with singer Jade Castrinos and “Life Is Hard” features more of the pair’s beautiful harmonies backed by what Letterman describes as “a wall of sound.”
