Duane Allman Les Paul Guitars Reunited At Beacon Theatre

Three of Duane Allman’s famed Gibson Les Paul guitars were reunited at the Beacon Theatre in New York City over the weekend for The Allman Brothers Band’s run of final shows at the Beacon Theatre. Earlier today, The Tedeschi Trucks Band shared a photo of the historic instruments:

We noted ABB guitarist Derek Trucks has been utilizing Duane’s 1957 Goldtop and also mentioned it appeared he was using another historic guitar on Friday. The TTB’s photo, taken by Ryan Murphy, confirms that all three of Allman’s axes were in the house. Ben Sparaco shared a little history on the guitars, “Goldtop was used by Duane from ’69-September ’70 (first two ABB albums & Layla). Cherry Burst used from Sept ’70-July ’71 (Fillmore East) and has the Gold Top’s pickups. Hot Lanta used from July ’71-October ’71 (Eat A Peach) except for Open E slide stuff (Duane had Dickey’s SG at this point). Hot Lanta went to (ABB roadie) Twiggs until (Duane’s daughter) Galadrielle was old enough and she now owns the bursts and has them on loan at the Rock Hall. The Big House owns the Goldtop.” We’re glad to see Duane has been represented in such a cool way during the band’s final run.

The Allman Brothers Band’s final run of shows continue tonight and tomorrow’s finale will be broadcast on SiriusXM.
