Drive-By Truckers Share ‘The New OK’ Video

Drive-By Truckers shared the video for “The New OK.” The song is off the band’s recently released album of the same name.

The New OK arrived on October 2. The video for the song “The New OK” was made using footage from the protests in Portland, Oregon, the adopted hometown of DBT guitarist Patterson Hood. The video opens with some words from Hood. Read them below:

I wrote this song after attending a peaceful protest on July 25th in my adopted hometown of Portland, Oregon.

As I walked home, I couldn’t help but notice the people who were walking in the other direction. They seemed to have a very different intent than the people I had been marching with all evening.

I could hear the sounds of teargas canisters being launched against the protesters and a very different scene starting to take place…

All this footage was shot in the summer of 2020 in Portland, Oregon…

The New OK is not OK.

The band also shared this statement:

Protesting is an American right, protected by the constitution. We fully support the right to peaceful protest. We are steadfastly opposed to white supremacy and bigotry. We do not condone violence from anyone. Make your voice heard. Get out and vote.
