Dopapod sealed a three-night New Year’s Eve run at Woodlands Tavern in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday. The Boston-born band delivered covers from Drake, Medeski Martin & Wood, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Creed as part of their NYE show.

Dopapod, however, kicked off the concert with a slew of originals “Numbers Need Humans,” “Sonic,” “Zonk,” “Like a Ball” and “Nuff.” The band then got into some cover material beginning with Medeski Martin & Wood’s “Strance of the Spirit Red Gator.” The group premiered a pair of covers — Drake’s “Passionfruit” and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard favorite “Rattlesnake” — to close the first frame.

Following originals “Time is Funny” and “Bats in the Cave,” Dopapod ushered in 2024 with “Auld Lang Syne” followed by a cover of Creed’s 1999 hit “Higher.” While keyboardist Eli Winderman offered a spot on Scott Stapp vocal delivery, it was guitarist Rob Compa who represented Creed in middle school.

During the next song, “French Bowling,” Rob told a story about his Creed fandom through Eli’s autotune vocal effect utilizing the style of comedian Kevin James Thornton’s “back in the 90s” Instagram posts. The band kept it seamless to end the second set with “2 Somebodies,” “Onion Head” and “Super Bowl.” Dopapod returned to launch the encore with a triumphant “Higher” reprise before capping the NYE concert with a pairing of “End it on the Yeah” and “Vol 3 #86.”
