Surviving The Doors members guitarist Robby Krieger and John Densmore linked up with musicians from around the world to record a new version of their legendary band’s iconic 1971 hit “Riders On The Storm.” The resulting video is the latest installment of Playing For Change’s Songs Around The World series.

Lukas Nelson and Sierra Ferrell channel Jim Morrison on vocals for the reimagined “Riders On The Storm.” Morrison’s original part is worked in with Nelson and Ferrell, harmonizing with the late co-founder of the Doors.

Other contributors include Don Was on bass, Micah Nelson on harmonica, Foo Fighters' Rami Jaffee on Fender Rhodes and Aaron White on percussion. Countries worldwide are represented on the new version by William Barton (Australia) on digeridoo, Boboulay Sissokho (Senegal) on kora, Macarena Montesinos (Spain) on cello, Guarani Andeva Group (Brazil) on percussion, the Iron Cult Dancers (America), vocalist Izzana Jaa (Morocco), Ezequiel Acosta (Argentina) on Bandoneón, Red Cloud Drum Group (Lakota Nation) on percussion and trumpeter Erik Prevost David (Cuba).

The Doors originally released “Riders On The Storm” on their 1971 studio album, L.A. Woman. The song, which peaked at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, was the last one Morrison recorded prior to his death.
