Dogs In A Pile piled into Charleston, South Carolina, for a concert Tuesday night at The Pour House. Current Charleston resident, vocalist Kanika Moore, was brought out to join the band on a cover of Amy Winehouse’s hit “Rehab.”
Moore, who resides in the Charleston area, was on hand to open the concert with her band The Brown Eyed Bois. Dogs In A Pile recruited Moore’s vocal talents for what ended up being the penultimate song of the band’s first of two sets.
Written and recorded by the late Amy Winehouse for her landmark 2006 sophomore album, Back To Black, the autobiographical “Rehab” was Winehouse’s top charting single in both the United States and her native United Kingdom. Winehouse tragically died in 2011 at age 27.
The collaborative performance of “Rehab” at The Pour House was the first time DIAP covered Winehouse’s song. The band followed the guest-assisted debut by closing set one with their own “Mr. Tooker.”
Set two saw several additional covers worked into the setlist, from the opening “Fire” by Jimi Hendrix to Joe Cocker’s “Space Captain” encore, with tunes by The Who and Joe Zawinul in the mix among a batch of originals.
