DJ Williams’ Shots Fired Welcomes Karl Denson In San Diego

The universe showed how tiny it truly is last night, when Karl Denson was a special guest during DJ Williams’ Shots Fired’s performance at Winston’s in San Diego. Denson played on the last three songs of the first set and then stuck around to sit-in for the majority of the second set as well.

Williams is the guitarist in Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe and Shots Fired also features KDTU’s David Veith on keys, KDTU/Greyboy Allstars’ Chris Stillwell on bass, Max MacVeety of Lyrics Born on drums and the Slightly Stoopid horns of Andy Geib and Daniel Delacruz. The setlist was mostly comprised of Shots Fired originals, but, notably, Karl sat-in on a rearranged cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

Shots Fired plays a free show this Friday at Lucky Strike Live in Hollywood. While Denson isn’t expected to show up, Dave Matthews Band trumpeter Rashawn Ross will be on active duty. Watch the band’s cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” from a previous performance:
