Disco Biscuits Team With Kreutzmann & Hart At Red Rocks

The format for the show was a first and third set of Bisco along with the Grateful Dead tribute as the second set. “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.” opened the evening and led into “Basis For A Day.” A four-song first set concluded with “Caves Of The East” > “Spraypaint.” When the Disco Biscuits returned for the second set they were joined by Grateful Dead drummers Hart & Kreutzmann along with frequent collaborator Hamilton. Jon “Barber” Gutwillig handled most of the vocals on a set that only included Grateful Dead classics such as “Jack Straw,” “Terrapin Station” and the famed “Help”/”Slip”/”Franklin’s” sequence. The ensemble even embarked on a “Drums”/”Space” segment as found at Dead shows for most of the band’s career.

Set Three saw the quartet play a pair of songs from the Dead’s repertoire -“I Know You Rider” and “Casey Jones” -without any guests. The final set of the evening also included a cover of “Fifth of Beethoven” and originals “Orch Theme” and “Magellan” (completing a version played the previous evening.) A “Going Down The Road Feelin’ Bad” encore brought the night to a close. The Disco Biscuits conclude their visit to Colorado with a show at Denver’s Ogden Theatre tonight. If you can’t make it in person, you can watch the show via TourGigs. Kreutzmann brings Billy & The Kids to the Ogden on Monday featuring guests Dominic Lalli and Jason Hann.
