The Disco Biscuits brought their summer tour to Colorado over the past four nights for a run that concluded with a pair of sold-out shows at the scenic Mishawaka Amphitheatre in Bellvue. On Saturday, the jamtronica quartet offered the live debut of their newest original, “Risky Business.”

“Risky Business” featured lead vocals from tDB guitarist Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig. The banger came in the middle of a seamless second set and contained fuzzed-out synth bass by Marc Brownstein, a four-on-the-floor beat from drummer Allen Aucoin and wild tones courtesy of keyboardist Aron Magner. Bisco engaged in a guitar-driven jam before laying out for more egalitarian improvisation. The premiere — derived from the April 13, 2024 “Rocky Candy -> Ring The Doorbell Twice” jam — lasted 17 minutes in total.

“Hot Air Balloon” bookended the Disco Biscuits’ first set on Saturday. The title track from Gutwillig’s 1998 rock opera spanned over 21 minutes before giving way to an even more adventurous “Shem-Rah Boo.” Next came an expansive “Aceetobee” ahead of the return to “Hot Air Balloon” as all four songs played in the opening frame dated back to the ’90s.

Bisco looked to the year 2000 to get the second set at The Mish underway with over a half-hour devoted to the pairing of fan favorites “7-11” and “Home Again.” The latter was inverted. The four-piece then went through the “Trap Door” in offering the evening’s initial taste of new material. “Trap Door” bled into the aforementioned “Risky Business” debut, which paved the way for the second “Minions” of 2024.

“Minions” dropped into a cover of Fred again.. and Baby Keem’s “Leavemealone.” More expansive jamming followed and then the Disco Biscuits went back to “7-11” to wrap the second set, marking the first time the band completed the song since June 5, 2021. Oldie “Once The Fiddler Played” was trotted out for its 2024 debut as the encore.
