Disco Biscuits Go Crazy In Philly With Nirvana And Prince Covers
By Scott Bernstein Feb 22, 2014 • 8:45 am PST

When the Biscuits came out on stage at the beginning of the show they were joined by a man dressed as Ben Franklin who delivered the intro to Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.” The Biscuits then lit into their first-ever version of the Prince song with guitarist Jon “The Barber” Gutwillig handling vocals. Ben Franklin stuck around to prance on stage during the cover.

Later in the first set the Biscuits dusted off “Rainbow Song” for the first time since October 4, 2012. Yet that wasn’t the biggest bust out of the night as the band kicked off the second set with a cover of Nirvana’s “Lithium,” which they last played at High Sierra in 2009. The second set also included lengthy versions of fan-favorites “I-Man,” “Crickets” and “Home Again.” The Disco Biscuits return to the Electric Factory tonight. If you can’t make it in person you can stream the show via Nugs.tv.
