Watch The Disco Biscuits Nod To Miami Sound Machine During ‘I-Man’ At North Beach Fest
The band tipped their hat to Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine with a tease of the group’s 1985 hit.

The Disco Biscuits shared pro-shot video of “I-Man” from their December 1 performance at the 2023 North Beach Music Festival at the Miami Beach Bandshell in Miami Beach, Florida. The quartet nodded to Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine by fitting a “Conga” jam within “I-Man.”
The “I-Man” performance wrapped tDB’s first night headlining NBMF. Bisco foreshadowed the “Conga” jam with their own “Little Shimmy In A Conga Line” to launch the second frame within which they fit “Tempest.” The band then went seamless for “Buy The Time,” “Aceetobee” (Perfume style) and into “I-Man.”

“I-Man” is one of tDB’s oldest originals, debuted on April 19, 1997 in the band’s hometown of Philadelphia, as per Phantasy Tour. After the first “I-Man” segment, the band dropped into a groove from which emerged the “Conga” jam. Miami Sound Machine, which featured acclaimed singer Gloria Estefan, had a breakout hit with “Conga” in 1985.
The nod came nearly eight minutes in when samples of “Conga” began trickling in with Jon “Barber” Gutwillig picking up the familiar melody on guitar. After exploring “Conga” jam, the quartet shifted back into a blissed-out ending to “I-Man” to put an exclamation point on the performance.
