Legendary alt-rockers Dinosaur Jr. have been celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album with a seven-show run at Bowery Ballroom in New York City. Each night the band has welcomed special guests with Charles Bradley, Jeff Tweedy and Henry Rollins among those who have sat-in thus far.

The run started on Thursday night with a show that saw Steve Gunn guest on “Yeah We Know,” Eleanor Friedberger help out on “Get Me,” Kurt Vile lend a hand on “Crumble” and Kim Gordon add to “Don’t.” A cover of Neil Young’s “Cortez The Killer” featuring Vile and John Moloney served as encore. Friday’s show featured Frank Black sitting in on “Gargoyle,” Lee Ranaldo contributing to “Little Fury Things” and Fred Armisen breaking out his Ian Rubbish alter-ego for “Hey Policeman” and later guesting on the evening’s “Cortez The Killer” encore.

On Saturday, Valerie June contributed to “Watch The Corners” and “Feel The Pain,” while Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy added to “Get Me,” “Tarpit” and the “Cortez The Killer” encore. Jesse Malin helped out on a cover of The Stooges’ “T.V. Eye,” while Bradley led the band and saxophonist Tony Jarvis on Neil Young’s “Heart Of Gold” before Rollins added self-penned verse lyrics to “Don’t.” Last night’s show saw Matt Valentine emerge for “Get Me,” Julia Cafritz sit-in on “Budge” and Bob Mould guest on “Freak Scene,” “In A Free Land” and a “Cortez The Killer” encore that also featured Ranaldo and Valentine. Dinosaur Jr.’s residency at Bowery Ballroom continues tonight.
