The Dickey Betts Band Performs ‘Ramblin’ Man’ In New York City
Later this month, Dickey Betts will release a concert film and live album titled Ramblin’ Man Live At The St. George Theatre, which captures a concert during the guitarist’s celebrated return to the stage in 2018. Ahead of its release, the The Allman Brothers Band co-founder has shared a video of “Ramblin’ Man” from his July 21, 2018 show at Staten Island, New York’s historic St. George Theatre.
Initially premiered via Guitar World, the six-minute clip finds the septuagenarian in proper form, gracefully leading his eponymous band, The Dicky Betts Band, through the 1973 Brothers and Sisters track. The performance is highlighted by Betts’ son, Duane Betts, who offers up a blistering guitar solo midway through the song.
As Betts told Guitar World, “When I first wrote this song, I didn’t think much of it. … When I played it for the band they insisted we record it. Now, it seems it’s the one song I have to play every night!”
