The Del McCoury Band shared their take on Elvis Presley’s “If You Talk In Your Sleep” today. The single follows the recently issued “Sally Jo” as the only new music released by the group in 2023. The band’s latest album, Almost Proud, came out last year.
Elvis Presley initially released “If You Talk In Your Sleep” as a single in 1974. The song was then featured on his Promised Land album the following year. Red West and Johnny Christopher co-wrote “If You Talk In Your Sleep.”

While Elvis’ original version has a funk feel, the Del McCoury Band infuses “If You Talk In Your Sleep” with their traditional bluegrass sound. Legendary guitarist/vocalist Del McCoury‘s high and lonesome singing is at the forefront backed by sons Ronnie McCoury on mandolin and Robbie McCoury on banjo as well as fiddler Jason Carter and bassist Alan Bartram.
