Del McCoury Band & The Travelin’ McCourys Announce Initial 2017 Shows

Hot on the heels of an eventful 2016, the McCoury family is looking ahead to what seems to be more of the same in 2017. Members of the first family of bluegrass will perform in many configurations over the first months of the new year including the Del McCoury Band and The Travelin’ McCourys as well as several Del & Woody shows, a “Grateful Ball” tour featuring The Travelin’ McCourys and Jeff Austin Band and more.
The Del McCoury Band will open 2017 with a Del & Woody show featuring songs with music by Del and lyrics by Woody Guthrie at City Winery in New York City on January 8. Del and his band also have shows scheduled in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arizona, Montana, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, California, Texas, North Carolina and Vermont over the first five months of the new year. Of particular note, the Del McCoury Band will team up with Bela Fleck at the Mondavi Center in Davis, California on March 21. The elder McCoury follows a pair of Del & Dawg shows this weekend with David Grisman with a set of April 2017 Del & Dawg performances in New Hampshire, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The Travelin’ McCourys begin 2017 with shows in Seattle on January 19, Anchorage on January 20 and Kennett Square, Pennsylvania on February 4. Another round of Grateful Ball shows featuring a set a piece from The Travelin’ McCourys and the Jeff Austin Band as well as a combined set of Grateful Dead songs is in store for February. The Grateful Ball will take place at Big Sky Big Grass in Big Sky, Montana on February 11. After that, the two acts embark on a Grateful Ball run spanning February 21 – 27 with stops in Oregon, California and Nevada. The Travelin’ McCourys and Jeff Austin Band will also bring the Grateful Ball to the Savannah Music Festival in Savannah, Georgia on March 31 and the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte on April 1.
