Deep Purple, Chicago & Cheap Trick Among 2016 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees

The 2016 inductees for the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame have been revealed. Cheap Trick, Chicago, Deep Purple, N.W.A. and Steve Miller will be inducted into the Rock Hall at a ceremony held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 8.

In order to be eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, artists must have released their first recording at least 25 years ago. Inductees were chosen by more than 800 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, as well as the aggregate results of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s online fan vote. Yes, Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, Janet Jackson, The Cars and Chic were nominated for induction but didn’t make the cut this year.

Four of the five acts that will be inducted currently tour in some fashion. It remains to be seen if surviving, former members of the groups will perform in Brooklyn such as guitarist Ritchie Blackmore who hasn’t played with Deep Purple since 1993 and drummer Bun E. Carlos who hasn’t played with Cheap Trick since 2010. HBO will air the induction ceremony this spring.
