One of the most anticipated albums of the fall in the classic rock world is guitarist David Gilmour’s long awaited follow up to 2006’s On An Island. Consequence of Sound points out that Gilmour discussed and performed tracks off the album, titled Rattle That Lock, this weekend at the 2015 Borris House Festival of Writing and Ideas in Carlow, Ireland.

In addition to revealing the title of the album at the event, which is due in September in time for Gilmour’s first tour in nine years, Rattle That Lock was shared as a status update this morning both by Gilmour and Pink Floyd’s official Facebook pages.

David Gilmour was joined at the event in Ireland by his wife and lyricist Polly Samson as the pair discussed the songwriting process that led to the LP and their other collaborations. Brain Damage reports Gilmour was asked numerous times about the album’s title before he finally spilled the goods. Gilmour also mentioned a Pink Floyd reunion with Roger Waters was out of the question during the session. Samson added that the theme for the album is “‘Carpe Diem’…seize every moment, look to the future, ‘Just Do It’ and don’t be afraid or hold back.” Jools Holland and Roxy Music’s Phil Manzanera are among others who contributed to Rattle That Lock.

CoS adds that Gilmour performed two songs at the event:

“Girl with a Yellow Dress”, “a lovely jazz number” which features Holland on keys, and an “uptempo track called “Boots on the Ground”, which Gilmour was inspired to write after listening to loud speaker announcements at a French train station.

An official announcement of the new LP is expected soon.
