Before word came down that Pink Floyd would release its first album in 2014, all eyes of the Pink Floyd world were on guitarist David Gilmour. For just about a year now, we’ve known Gilmour was working on his first solo album since 2006’s On An Island. Last Friday, Gilmour clued Rolling Stone in on his exciting plans for 2015.

“It’s coming along very well,” Gilmour told Rolling Stone about the new album. “There are some sketches that aren’t finished, and some of them will be started again. There’s a few months’ work in it yet. I’m hoping to get it out this following year. Then I’m hoping to do an old man’s tour, not a 200-date sort of thing.”

Gilmour added, “There haven’t been many discussions about the tour, but places like Radio City Music Hall sound like the right sort of vibe for me.” How about a Pink Floyd tour? “Without (keyboardist Rick Wright), that’s kind of impossible,” said Gilmour. “I’m really enjoying my life and my music. There’s no room for Pink Floyd. The thought of doing any more causes me to break out in a cold sweat.”

As far as Gilmour connecting with former band mate Roger Waters for a tour, don’t count on that either. “I wouldn’t rule anything out,” the guitarist said. “But the likelihood of it being anything more than one little charity show is very, very remote.”
