During a July 23 appearance on Pitchfork Music Radio NYC, Talking Heads frontman David Byrne played the role of playlist curator while offering a number of never-before-heard recordings. The playlist featured a new song Byrne composed for the new musical he wrote about Joan Of Arc called Saint Joan.

Byrne debuted “Send Her To Heaven” within a set he titled Music Recorded On A Cell Phone. Billed as featuring previously unheard recordings, here’s how Byrne described the contents of the program:

When we were invited to broadcast a show of DB Radio on the new Pitchfork Radio platform, it felt like a perfect opportunity to highlight music captured via cell phones, and to try to honor and celebrate all those people out there who capturing and sharing important moments with people around the world.

This month’s playlist includes submissions from DB Radio contributors like Camilla Wasserman’s incredibly powerful recording at a protest march for Eric Gardner in 2014, and Joakim Bouaziz’s recording of a saxophonist one evening as he was walking home through Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, NY, as well as unreleased songs by David Byrne (“Send Her To Heaven”), Andy Noble feat. Little Gregory (“Searching for my True Love”) and The Messengers feat. Doug Hream Blunt.
