Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Play Bust Outs & Debuts At Riviera Maya Concert

By Scott Bernstein Feb 25, 2017 6:45 am PST

Dave Matthews Band guitarists Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds continued the inaugural Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Riviera Maya destination event at the Barceló Maya Beach Resort in Mexico on Friday night. Matthews and Reynolds presented a 21-song performance filled with surprises as their second of three concerts the guitarists will play as part of the event.

Matthews and Reynolds kicked off the festivities with “Don’t Drink The Water” before dusting off long-lost rarity “Dodo.” Dave hadn’t played a full version of the Some Devil track with any of his projects since a show with Tim on December 11, 2010. The bust outs continued with Dave & Tim’s first “Best Of What’s Around” since April 4, 2003 and “Fool To Think” since March 25, 2003. After “Old Dirt Hill (Bring That Beat Back),” the pair would play their first ever duo take on “Rooftop.”

Dave and Tim didn’t play any repeats on Friday from what they presented on Thursday. Reynolds solo selections were “Grab The Horns By The Bull” and “Wing It.” The set also featured a debut cover of Woody Guthrie’s “Worried Man Blues” and plenty of old classics including “Recently,” “Crash Into Me,” “Granny,” “Warehouse” and “Dancing Nancies.” Matthews and Reynolds ended the evening with a “You & Me” and “Rapunzel” encore. The pair return to the beach at Barceló on Saturday night.
