Back in April 2008 singer-songwriter Jack Johnson hosted the Kokua Festival benefit in Honolulu, Hawaii. Johnson, who this week shared a new single and announced an extensive Summer Tour, performed a guest-filled set at the Waikiki Shell on April 19, 2008. This week’s installment of Full Show Friday features video footage from Johnson’s set featuring Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds, Mason Jennings, Matt Costa and others.
Dave & Tim came out toward the end of the set to cover Jimmy Buffett’s “A Pirate Looks At Forty” and a performance of “The 3 R’s” featuring bits of “Three Is A Magic Number” from Schoolhouse Rock. Costa was brought out for a rendition of “Let It Be Sung,” while Jennings was enlisted to contribute to “Living In The Moment” and “Fall Line.” Local musicians Paula Fuga and Kawika Kahiapo were also brought to the stage to assist on “Country Road.”
